Tile Card

Welcome friends!!!

Today's card is a card using a technique called the Tile Technique.  It is called that for the obvious reason, the card looks like tile!! Who would of though, lol;-)

The stamp set that i used for this card today is the Daring Adventure set.  Unfortunately it is one of the many fine sets that is retiring:(  So get it while you can and they last.  Click here too see the complete list of stamps and here for the complete accessories list!

Now sorry if the above picture is a little blurry but i wanted to try and get a close-up shot of the "tile" on the card to give you more of an idea!  See how the stamp image is missing in the groove of the tile? Love it! I have a strong feeling that this super fun, easy and quick technique is going to be this Friday's Video!!! YAY!

Mothers Day Cards

Happy Monday all!!!  I hope you all had a nice weekend and a nice Mother's Day!! Happy late Mothers Day to all you wonderful mommies out there!!!

For today's share i thought i would show you the Mother's Day cards that i made for my amazing Momma and Momma-in-Law.  I didn't want to post them before Mother's Day since they both check my website regularly (awe...).

Each card is using one of my favorite stamps, Stippled Blossoms.  This stamp is just soooo beautiful!!! Every time i use it people can't believe that it is a "stamp".  The above card i used it at the bottom of the card, creating a bottom boarder type using So Saffron as the bottom color of the flower and then one of the new In Colors, Strawberry Slush.  Don't forget that the new catalog order begin on May 31st so click here to order your catalog today so you can get a jump start on your wish list!!!!  Once i stamped my flowers i took my sponge and my Old Olive and brushed the bottom edge of my card to give it a bit more depth.  Then, i created a boarder for my greeting (which is from the stamp set All In The Family by TPC Studio) using the So Saffron, cut at 4 1/2" x 2" then my second layer of Strawberry Slush, cut at 4 3/8" x 1 7/8" and then my final layer of Whisper White cut at 4 1/4" x 1 3/4".

For my second card i used one of my favorite techniques, the 3 Tier Stamping technique (at least that is what i call it.  Most i think call it Triple Stamping).  Click here to see my video tutorial on how to create this card.  For this one i used Blushing Bride (another color that is coming out in the new catalog and if you have been using SU! for awhile you may recognize this color.  It is an old In-Color that they decided to bring back YAY), for my bottom color and then Wisteria Wonder for my top.  Don't they look great together? LOVE it!!!!

Now on to a bit of personal stuff!   I wanted to share with you this absolutely beautiful plant that my hubby got me for Mother's Day. Oh my goodness i was in "awe" when I saw it.  It is a Hydrangea!  However i have never seen a Hydrangea like this before! The picture really doesn't do it justice, the thing is massive and i can't wait to get it into my planter.  That is if it ever becomes warm enough here in the mitten state to put flowers outdoors without having to bring them in every night because it freezes, lol).

 Next i just wanted to share the two reasons as to why my Mother's Day was so unbelievably special.. it is all thanks to my amazing hubby and of course my beautiful baby girl!!! They sure did know how to make this Momma feel loved yesterday and everyday!!!

Josephs Coat Technique Video

Good day all. Welcome back to another Friday Video here at Mrs. Lincolns Inkin'.

Today's technique is called Joseph's Coat.  A fun little technique that you can use to bring many colors out through a darker color background.

I love how the colors mix together and really shine through the background on this one, which i used Primrose Petals for my background.  Let's take a look at today's video...

Here is another look at the card that i did my own way.  Instead of placing the color all over the Whisper White first, i embossed first and then did the coloring.  I think that it still turned out pretty.  For this background i used a bit darker color, Raspberry Ripple.  I kind of think that it is too dark though.

Very subtle but gives just enough color in his wings.  For both of my cards my Whisper White (which ends up becoming a different color) was measured at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Then for my backing piece, Summer Starfruit is cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Mosaic Madness Background (Sneak Peek)

Hello everyone, happy Thursday!!!

A quick post today with a Sneak Peek of the one of the new stamps sets that will be available in the new 2013-2015 Annual Catalog, items available May 31st!!! I used 2 images from the new set, Mosaic Madness and my Stamp-A-Ma Jig to create my background.  Then i used another new set, Label Love and the coordinating Punch, for my sentiment!  Now because the new items are not released yet i can't show you the complete sets or the actual punch but you get the idea, lol;)

Craft Room Pics

Hello all.  Well, i am updating my blog a bit today and adding a "my craft space" tab to the top so i thought i would share with you the pictures of my space that i am putting there.

A little bit ago i posted a video of my craft space, you can see that here, but i have made a few changes, nothing huge, just a few little things here and there.

When you are standing in the door way to enter my space this is what you see.  My Craft space used to be in the basement in an extra room that we had, it was huge!  The hubby did it all up with me... painted the walls Pink, put in new carpet... the works!  I was in there for a few months and just hated that i didn't have a window to so that i could see the great outdoors, wild life and smell the amazing crisp Spring/Summer air (when it was that time of year of course) so, he finally allowed me to turn our computer room that was on the main level of our house into my Craft Room! He is the best hubby ever!!!

To the left of the doorway is where i store my punches!  I try to only keep current punches but sometimes i just can't part with some that i really love! Like the SU! Snowflake and the 5 Petal Flower.  To hang these i just used simple, cheap curtain rods! I have seen a lot of videos where people buy things similar to this, among a ton of other really neat things, at Ikea! I have never been to an Ikea but found that there is one about 1.5 hours from us! I am hoping that a trip there is part of my Mother's Day present!!!

  

Next you have my mom's space.  We scrapbook/craft a lot together so any room that i ever have will always have a spot for her.  She has extra lighting under her shelf and we just love to get together and "craft".  I added a shelf above where she sits.  This is where i keep some of the projects that i have made along with my super cool radio that my dad gave me and my Kyle Busch special addition Breast Cancer awareness car (you can kind of see it up there). I love it because it is Pink/White and it covered with M&M's (YUMMY).

Over here is kind of my catch-all shelf.  This is where i keep my ribbon, stickles and other things that aren't an everyday go to item!  I am looking to find another way to store my ribbons so if anyone has a great, room saving idea i would love to hear it! Maybe Ikea would have something, lol:)  This corner is also where i store my extra paper that isn't SU!.  I organize it by color group.

This is where all the creativity happens, my desk!!  I recently got a new computer that one of our friends personally made.  The screen size is like 26" or something crazy like that! I love it though! All my blogs that i watch daily and every ones great creative ideas that i love to drool over look great on the big screen!  When i do my videos, i place my camera to the left of my center table there with my neat little stand that i just got.  I think that it works pretty good.  Of course my desk is right by the window.  I love this time of year when i can open the window up, feel the awesome breeze, smell the fresh cut grass and just be creative!!!

This is to the right of my desk.  Pretty self explanatory.  This is where i keep all my inks. I sort them by current colors and retired colors.  Again, i try to only keep what is current but sometimes i have to keep colors that i just love to much to let go.  The two rows on the right are all retired, lol. What can i say... SU! has GREAT colors.  The 3 rows to the left are all current colors with the middle row being last years and this years In-Colors (you are going to love the new In-Colors!! Beautiful!!!!!  Then in the drawers is where i keep my 12"x12" DSP, my idea books and in the smaller drawers is my embossing powders, big shot accessories such as embossing folders and dies and then some Misc. Stickers.  I would love if my Big Shot accessories were with my Big Shot so i think some more rearranging is in my near future.  My husband is going to love that, lol.



When i transformed the computer room into my craft room i had to take the closet door off so that i could have more storage.  Ok, are you ready for this... these are all my retired stamps that i just can't part with.  I know, i know... it's an addiction!  Well, i guess i take that back... on the second shelf up, all the way to the right...you see that little stack there? Well those are still current.  After going through the list of all the products that are retiring my supply gets a little low, lol.  Which is fine because it just means that it is time for new goody's!!!!  The drawers there are how i hold my scraps of paper that isn't SU! colors.  It is just another catch-all really.

Last but not least is where i keep my Big Shot and where i have my CURRENT, yes those are all still current, lol, clear stamps.  See my cute new camera tri-pod there? I just love it and how tiny it is!!

Mixed Bunch using Joseph Coat Technique

Happy Tuesday!!!

Today's card is one that i made using what is called as the Joseph Coat Technique.  It is a technique that i learned a few years ago and just love doing!!!!  Hmmmm.... can you guess what Friday's Video might be about? LOL;)

Here is a bit of a rundown of what you will need to do it.  You will need a piece of card stock, a dark colored ink ( i have tried light colors but they haven't turned out for me), Sponges, Clear Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy and your Heat Tool.  Any ideas?  Well make sure to check back on Friday!!! ;)

Here is a little closer look at the flower so you can really see the colors!  For this card i chose to use Primrose Petals, Daffodil Delight, and Pool Party to really make my flowers stand out and i think that those colors really scream Summer!!!

The set that i used is Mixed Bunch.  When doing a technique like this, you want to make sure that you use a stamp that can hold a lot of color.  By that i mean a stamp that has a bigger surface on it rather than something with a ton of detail.

Weekend Fun

Happy Monday all! So instead of sharing a card with you today i thought that i would share with you some pictures of my scrabooking/crafing weekend that my awesome momma and i went to this past weekend!  What it is, is a bunch of great ladies who get together and do nothing but work on whatever crafting project they want... scrapbooking, card making, sewing, quilting... eating... sleeping... whatever;)

The owner, whose name is Laura Greenfelder, has taken 2 old churches (she has 2 different locations) and transformed them into fabulous crafting locations.  We go there early Friday morning and we leave sometime early Sunday afternoon.  Within that time we do nothing but craft, eat and lounge around in our crafting "comfy" clothes and enjoy great conversation and stories.

The retreat that we were in this time, (our group that goes alternates between each of the 2 locations.  In May we always go to the second location, the one that we were at now, and in October we head on over to the other location ((the first building that transformed)), holds up to 24 crafty ladies.  Here you can see that it is cozy but yet you still have plenty of room to walk around and spread out!!  There is a little section (that i wasn't able to snap a picture of) that is made to be like another little scrap place which fits a small group of 4 people.  It has it's own separate kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms.

Since the retreat was once an old church, you will find a lot of the natural elements of the church are still being used.  Maybe not as what they were first intended but i think that is what makes it that much more great!! Above is a picture of part of the kitchen, i took it because, you can't really tell but all the tables are made out of old doors that used to be used in the church!  I just thought that was such a great idea!!!!!!!  Plus see the quilt in the back?  There are such beautiful quilts that are hung all over the retreat not only are you there to get crafty but you sometime feel as though you are in an art show surrounded by such beautiful creations!!!



My mom and i always go to the crops together.  One never goes without the other (accept for one time when she went without me because i had just had my daughter).  It is out mother/daughter weekend that i look sooooo forward too every May and October!! She is such an awesome mother and more than that... friend!!!!  We spend our weekend joking, laughing and bouncing ideas off of each other.  When we put both our heads together, we come up with some great ideas and creations!!!

While we were there i spent 99% of the time working on starting my daughter's book.  As you can probably guess her name is Emma, lol:)  I wanted to share this with you because this is a sneak peek at one of the awesome new punches that is coming out in the new 2013-2015 Annual Catalog beginning May 31st!  Isn't it fabulous?!?!?!?!? I am having sooo much fun playing with some of the new items and look forward to sharing them with you!!! You are all going to LOVE the new catalog, it is stocked full of some great new items!!!

6x6 Page Protector Pouch Video

Happy Friday friends!!! You know what Friday means?  Yup, it's Friday Video time! YAY!!!!

Today's video is to show that SU! Page Protectors can be used for more than just protecting your totally awesome and special scrapbooking pages.  They can be used to create a cute little pouch where you can hold thank you cards, birthday cards... any kind of card really that you want.  Maybe a note pad (decorated of course, lol) and a pen for your special someone to jot down notes.... the possibilities are endless.  Plus, this project is really easy and quick to make so you could make tons of little gifts in a short amount of time!!  

For this specific pouch i decided to fill it with some Thank You notes and envelopes using my Very Vanilla card stock (cards measure 3" x 3") and decorating the fronts of them very simple with one stamp from the Flowering Flourishes set and a simple "thank you" from the Wishes You Way set.  Let's take a look at how we make these:

Simple right?  And totally adorable!!!  If you missed the measurements on the video here they are again:
- Top piece (for flap) is 4" x 6 1/2" score at 2"
- DSP for that piece is 1 7/8" x 6 7/16" (remember, the 7/16" mark is 2 spots before the 1/2" mark).
-Inside DSP for pouch is... you guessed it 6" x 6".

Remember When

Hello there, welcome!!!

Today's card is a simple card using bright colors which make me think of Summer!!!  Hence the title of the card... Remember When... remember what Summer is Mother Nature, lol?  I shouldn't complain too much today though, here in the mitten state it is suppose to be nice and sunny with a high of 78!! Whoa!!!!!

The background of my card is using the Distressed Dots stamp.  One of my favorites and i am so sad that it is on the retired list:(  Whatever will i do?  Replace it with something new?  Don't mind if i do!!  Here is a closer look at the Distressed Dots-

Yup, it's dots alright and they do look distressed, hehe:)

For my saying i used the Remember When stamp from the set Word Play (also retiring) and the leaves stamp are from the set My Friend.  I used Whisper White for my base, average size of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  I wanted my card to be bright so my dots are stamped in Tangerine Tango ink! I love the color of this ink! It is soooo playful!  To add another splash of color i went with Tempting Turquoise cut at 3" x 4 1/2" and used that as my backing piece for my second sheet of Whisper White cut at 2 3/4" x 4 1/4".  A very simple card but i think that with all the color it really stands out and projects itself as a "bigger" card:)

Preserved... But not for long!

Hello all!! Happy Wednesday!!

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday.  I had a sick baby at home and was using my time to cuddle her!  Isn't it the worst when your kids are sick?  Urg, it makes me feel so bad and so helpless:(  She is seeming to be feeling a bit better today though THANK GOD!!!

Today's card is a simple card using the Perfectly Preserved set and coordinating dies! I love this duo and am sad to remind that it is on the retiring list of stamps:(  Click here too see the complete list of stamps and here for the complete accessories list!

After cutting out my canning jar (so adorable) i used another stamp from the Perfectly Preserved set (the Apple) and made some homemade DSP.  The "dirt" i guess you could call it is from a strip of Soft Suede and i used my Scallop Trim Punch to give it some "humps" like dirt has, lol;)
