Star(sun)Burst Technique

Happy Friday friends!! Welcome to another Friday Video here at Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin'.

Today's share is the StarBurst Technique.  Some may have heard this technique called the SunBurst Technique.  I don't know why, but i always just call it the StarBurst.  Either way, it is a great technique and so pretty on any card.  You can alter this technique to fit any project.

Let's take a look at today's video: (yes it didn't give me a "thumbnail" but it is working this week, lol.  Just click on it and sit back, relax and enjoy)

For the card that i made in the video i used the Gingham Garden DSP. This pack of DSP is amazing. All the prints are soooo pretty.  Here is a closer look at the pack that you can purchase Here 24/7 on my on-line store:

Well all, i truly hope you enjoyed today's share.  Thanks so much for visiting and i hope you visit again SOON!!!:) Until then...

Father's Day Shirt Video

Happy Friday all!!! Welcome to Mrs. Lincolns Friday Video!!! Father's Day is Sunday (don't forget, lol) so i thought i would share this super cute Shirt card that would be great for any special guy in your life to wish them a Happy Father's Day!!! Another great thing about this card, that of course i forgot to mention in my video, is if you fold back the "sleeves" this card will fit in any average size envelope, so it's not something you can't mail to that someone special..

Here is a look at the inside of the card:

ADORABLE!!!! Let's take a look at how to make these awesome, stylish cards!!

Here is a closer look at the DSP packs that i used on the 3 shirts that i showcased.

Well all that's it for today! Hope you enjoyed and until next time...

Flower Pot Card Video

Hello stampers!! Welcome to my Friday Video here at Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin'! I want to apologize for my absence yesterday in posting.  I was in a car accident yesterday (yes, everyone is fine), I was rear ended and ended up spending the majority of my day getting that taken care of.  So, i thought that i would give you 2 posts in one today.

Today's video is going to be how i made this adorable Flower Pot on an average piece of card stock measuring at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Then, when you scroll down you will see step by step instructions on how you can make the "normal" Flower Pot card.  Where the pot is actually the card itself.

Here is a look at the inside of my flower pot card...

I am IN LOVE with the new Pansy Punch and the Flower Shot stamp set.  OH MY GOODNESS!! They are so cute!!!

Well let's take a look at the video!!

Now, to make the normal Flower Pot Card, what you are going to need is a piece of card stock cut at 3 1/2" x 9"

Once you have that done you need to score it at 2" and 5 1/2"
When you have your score lines you need to fold the larger section one way (up to the 2" score mark) and your smaller section the opposite direction.  It should look like this when you're done...
Now just like in the video we have to make our diagonal cuts so that it looks like a flower pot.  So, place your 2" score mark in your cutting strip and the peak of your 5 1/2" score mark at the 1/2" mark on the other side of your cutter arm.
Flip it around and do the exact same thing to the other side.

Once that is done your pot should look like this...
Now once your pot is done, you would assemble the remainder of it the same way as you did the pot showed in the video.  The piece of card stock that you need to fit into this pot is going to measure 2 1/4"x 4 1/2".  This is where you would also arrange your flowers at the top.

Well all, i hope you enjoyed this 2-for-1 day!!! Hope to see you again real soon! Until next time...

Josephs Coat Technique Video

Good day all. Welcome back to another Friday Video here at Mrs. Lincolns Inkin'.

Today's technique is called Joseph's Coat.  A fun little technique that you can use to bring many colors out through a darker color background.

I love how the colors mix together and really shine through the background on this one, which i used Primrose Petals for my background.  Let's take a look at today's video...

Well unfortunetly my video won't load from YouTube to my blog today.  Isn't it always something?  So sorry about the technical difficulities.  Head on over to my YouTube Channel here to view today's video and i will try and figure out what the heck is going on lol.

Here is another look at the card that i did my own way.  Instead of placing the color all over the Whisper White first, i embossed first and then did the coloring.  I think that it still turned out pretty.  For this background i used a bit darker color, Raspberry Ripple.  I kind of think that it is too dark though.

Very subtle but gives just enough color in his wings.  For both of my cards my Whisper White (which ends up becoming a different color) was measured at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Then for my backing piece, Summer Starfruit is cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Well, that's all today everyone.  Sorry again about the video problems.  I will have them fixed by next Friday (fingers crossed).  Until next time...

6x6 Page Protector Pouch Video

Happy Friday friends!!! You know what Friday means?  Yup, it's Friday Video time! YAY!!!!

Today's video is to show that SU! Page Protectors can be used for more than just protecting your totally awesome and special scrapbooking pages.  They can be used to create a cute little pouch where you can hold thank you cards, birthday cards... any kind of card really that you want.  Maybe a note pad (decorated of course, lol) and a pen for your special someone to jot down notes.... the possibilities are endless.  Plus, this project is really easy and quick to make so you could make tons of little gifts in a short amount of time!!

For this specific pouch i decided to fill it with some Thank You notes and envelopes using my Very Vanilla card stock (cards measure 3" x 3") and decorating the fronts of them very simple with one stamp from the Flowering Flourishes set and a simple "thank you" from the Wishes You Way set.  Let's take a look at how we make these:

Simple right?  And totally adorable!!!  If you missed the measurements on the video here they are again:
- Top piece (for flap) is 4" x 6 1/2" score at 2"
- DSP for that piece is 1 7/8" x 6 7/16" (remember, the 7/16" mark is 2 spots before the 1/2" mark).
-Inside DSP for pouch is... you guessed it 6" x 6".

Well all, i want to thank you for stopping by today! I am off now for a whole weekend get-a-way with my momma and some amazing ladies for a scrapbooking/crafting retreat!!! I'm so excited! Full of good conversation, good food (lots of food, lol) and lots of creativeness!! Until next time...

Birthday - Scratch Off Technique Video

Happy Friday!!!

Welcome to my Friday Video all!! Earlier this week i posted a card that i made using the Scratch Off Technique (at least that is what i call it, lol). To view that post click here.  I had a lot of compliments and requests to show how i did that card, or at least the technique so good thing that it was already planning on being my Friday Video.  I want to say thank you too to all those that did inquire about it.  I love to share new ideas and techniques so please, keep the positive feedback coming!!!  Let's take a look shall we?

How stinkin' adorable huh? Oh my goodness!!!!  I have been totally obsessed with this lately and pretty soon anyone that ever gets a card from me is going to have to "scratch" it off:)

Here is a closer look at the cupcake that whomever received your card would scratch off.  I didn't want to scratch it yet because i do plan on sending this piece of fun out to a dear friend!

My Polka Dot Parade DSP (LOVE IT) is cut at 5 1/2" x 3" and i outlined the top and bottom of it with some Certainly Celery and my Scallop Trim Boarder.  I didn't want the card to be too "busy", i didn't want to take away from the cupcakes and all the fun that they have in store so that is all the embellishing that i did.

For my cupcakes today i wanted to showcase the Create A Cupcake stamp set that i used as well and the coordinating punch.  They are so cute! I mean who doesn't love cupcakes right?

Thanks a ton for visiting today.  Wanted to let everyone know too that there won't be a post again until later next week. Our bestest friends are getting married!!! YAY!!! Look out for wedding cards, lol!! Until next time all...

Clear Block Background Video

Hello there crafters!! Happy Friday!

So, it seems as though for today i am back on track with posting a video early in the morning rather than later at night, lol:) Man, when things get out of wack they really get out of wack!!

For today's card i featured the technique that you can use your clear blocks for.  Yup, there is a way that you can use them rather then just having them "cling" to your stamps.  You can make your own background!!

After doing the video, i realized that i didn't really like the flower how i had done it.  It just looked unfinished to me.  So, i added a 7/8" Scallop Circle in the Pumpkin Pie for my center and that was all that it needed.

For this background i chose to use 2 clear blocks.  My D Clear Block and my A Clear Block.  Here is a closer look at all the clear blocks that are available:

Also, i mention in my video the Pop Up Posies Kit , which is where the stamp that i used in today's card, Just for You came from.  Click here to head on over to my video tutorial on how to make those amazing flowers from that awesome kit.

Now, for some SU! news!! Attention, attention, for 3 days only SU! will be offering... drum roll please....

Yup, that's right!! On all orders, no matter how big or how small you will get free shipping on EVERYTHING!! How wonderful!! So get that list out that you have been working on and place your order here today.  Plus... yes there is more... SU! has announced their Color Refresh!! Below is a list of what colors we must say goodbye too and what new colors are joining in on the fun!
Do you see any old In-Colors that are coming back in the mix?  Oooo, I'm so excited to reunite with them!!!  Pear Pizazz and Blushing Bride are 2 of my favorite colors (we all know how obsessed i am with Pinks and Greens). I can't wait to get them back out and play!!

Well everyone, i hope you enjoyed today and until next time...

Metallic Background Video

Happy Friday everyone! Another week bites the dust!!  This weekend though is very exciting... it's Easter!  Does everyone have big plans?  Our family does a mini Easter egg hunt for our little one in the morning followed by her basket and little gifts that the Easter Bunny leaves her and then we have a family dinner.  This year we are headed to my in-laws:)  It's going to be a great time!!

For today's card i wanted to show how i did the Metallic Background technique that i introduced earlier this week in this post here.

Isn't that a great technique?  I love how it is subtle but still adds sooo much!!  After my background dried i finished my project by still swarming around the Easter theme.  I used my All Dressed Up stamp set with the coordinating die set, Dress Up Framelits.  To pull in the Primrose Petals ink that i used for one of my background colors i used a strip of the matching card stock cut at 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" and edged it with my Scallop Trim Boarder Punch.  I tied my card together with the Easter Blessing stamp on a piece of Wild Wasabi card stock (the other color i used on my background).

The item that i wanted to highlight again today is the Shimmer Paint.  This item is so great and i am really going to try to use it more.
Well all, i hope you enjoyed another Friday Video Tutorial and until next time...

Paper Flowers Video

Happy Friday all.  Yup, it's Friday... YAY... and that means that it is time for another Friday Video Tutorial!

Since i have been so obsessed with the Pop Up Posies Designer Kit i thought that i would do a video on how i make these awesome paper flowers! Have I mentioned how much i LOVE paper flowers and how wonderful this kit is?  It doesn't matter if you have never made a paper flower or if you have been making them for years, all your flowers are going to come out fabulous!!!

Let's take a look:

Told you they were awesome, lol:)

To get the tighter look of your paper flowers, i like to use a bit of water on each layer, then "scrunching" each layer into a small ball.  I personally just think that it gives it a little bit more!!!

For these kind of flowers, i don't wet them with water.  I just place each layer on the brad and then scrunch each layer again and then slowly separating them until i get the desired look that i want.

Well all, i hoped you enjoyed today's tutorial.  Until next time...
