Roarin' Birthday

Hi there friends!! Welcome to Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin'!

Now, if you have ever checked my blog before in January you know that January is chalked full of birthday's for my family.  So of course I share a lot of birthday cards during the month of January.  Here is an adorable card that I made using this cutie-pa-tutie lion from the set Wild Birthday by Avery Elle.  This set is so cute. I used the party hat from the set as well, masked it off so he looked like he was actually wearing it and there you go... now he is a lion ready for a party:)

I wanted to keep this card simple and clean by just having it on a clean white background which I used Neenah 80lb card stock.  I then used a new border die called Stiched Borders by Lawn Fawn, it allows you to make that stiched border you see on the top and bottom.  It's new to my collection but already a favorite!  I then completed my images with some simple Copic coloring.  Well, right now that is all I can do is "simple" so it worked out well:)

I then took my image panel which is cut slightly smaller then my A2 size card and backed it with a sheet of fun foam for some dimension.  Here is a closer look at the set that I used today:
Well that is all for today.  Thank you for taking a peek today:)  Until next time...

I Simply...

Hi there all!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend:)

I wanted to share with you today a very simple yet elegant card that uses some embossing powder and some vellum.  This card is intended to be a birthday card but you could make it whatever you wanted.  I was going to give this card to my mother (who just had a birthday on January 14th), but in the end went in another direction.  We live in Michigan, so right now it is winter for us and is snowing... or should I say suppose to be snowing... we don't have one flake of snow on the ground right now, which is just WEIRD, but it is Michigan so you never know what you are going to get:)  Anyway, so I didn't think that it would be too far fetched to have a birthday card that had some snowflakes on it.

Now I do want to share two tips with you... when you are embossing on Vellum, make sure to 1) get your heat tool good and HOT.  I mean HOT.  Turn it on a few seconds (I normally let mine heat up 20-25 seconds) before you intend to use it and 2) don't stop moving it.  Keeping it moving is really going to help your vellum not to melt.

Hope those little tips help:)  That is it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and until next time...

Giving a Whirl at Water Coloring

Hello there friends.  Thanks for visiting today:)  Today I wanted to share with you my Whirl at Water coloring card.  Now keep in mind I don't watercolor... at all.  I am like a fish out of water when it comes to water coloring.  I don't know really how to blend or where "shadows" should be so this is what I got.  I was actually quite pleased with it.  I used some of my new Zig Clean Color markers and some Ranger Watercolor Paper with a regular aqua painter (I think it was the one I had from Stampin' Up!)

The card itself is a regular top folding A2 card, 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2 and I used the Dapper Denim card stock from SU!. The butterfly framelit too is from SU!, I just love this framelit. I think that it is so pretty and detailed.  I then took a think strip of black card stock and heat embossed my sentiment using Ranger White Embossing Powder.  LOVE IT!!! It is by far my new favorite white embossing powder.

I hope you all enjoyed today's share.  Thanks for stopping by and until next time...

Beginner Copic Critters

Well hello there stampers, remember me? It has been 6 months (or more) since my last post.  I needed to step away and take some time away.  I was finding myself in a rut and not feeling very creative.  As some of you may know I started by blog out as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I love SU! dearly but was finding myself needing and wanting to be creative with other products that I found along the way. While being an active demonstrator of SU! I was unable to share with you on my own personal blog the things that I would create using these other products and I didn't think that was fair.  I have struggled with this before but have always gone back to SU!. This time, I needed to make sure that the choice I was making was the right one for me.  After weeks/months of contemplating I am no longer a demonstrator and am a free bird.

With that being said I am also a beginner. I have jumped into the world of Copic coloring, watercoloring and so many other wonderful techniques and used so many amazing products that I can't wait to share with you. However, like I said, this is all new to me... the coloring, some of the techniques but I want to share that with all of you.  Watching YouTube and reading different blogs everyone always seems to have it all together!! Well, I don't.  Everyone has to start someone and I want to share my learning journey with you.  So I will post cards/creations that I make... some may not be the prettiest... some may look like a hot mess but that is the journey of being a crafter right?  Not everything is perfect.  So I hope you take this journey with me and for some of you that are also new to the crafting world, learn with me.  I do plan to get back into videos, but one step at a time.

So, the first card that I am posting here is of some cute little critters from the Cuddly Critters stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.  I used copic coloring for them and freehanded in a background.  I wanted it to be simple but look like they were sitting on bleachers.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink and my ink blending tool to create a halo of yellow around them.

Well, that you so much guys for peeking in today.  I hope you will all visit again soon!!!  Until then...

Flap Panel Card

Hi all!!! Welcome!!!

Today's share is a what I call the Flap Panel Card.  I used one of my favorite colors for the base, Mint Macaron!!!  Then topped that with a print from the A Little Foxy DSP Stack.

The fun thing about this card is all the space that you have to decorate or to write!

When you open up the first flap you have a place that you can continue to decorate and then...

You open it again and you can leave your message.

Sending Wishes

Hi stampers!!! Welcome to Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin' and today's card share:)

I'm excited to share this card with you today.  It uses the stamp Set Picture Perfect.  It is a triple-stamp set... meaning that you use three different stamps to create the look of the hummingbird.  For this card I used Pink Pirouette as my lightest color, then Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry.  My layers for this image measure 3" x 3" for the Whisper White and then 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" for the Rich Razzleberry.

The base of the card is using the Tip Top Taupe and is an average size card, just cut a little different.  It is cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/4" scored at 4 1/4".  I then took a 1" strip of the Blooms and Bliss to add to the side.

Then the flower, I love this flower!!!  I used the Pansy Punch and punched a piece of Whisper White - Shimmer, Mint Macaron, and then a piece of Vellum.  I curved up the Vellum using my Bone Folder and then layered them together!!! I love how the Vellum sets off the flower!!

Don't forget that you still have a few days to earn some EXTRA STAMPIN' REWARDS!!!

Until June 30, 2016 you will get $35  in extra Stampin' Rewards when your order reaches $350.00 or more before S&H and tax) .  That’s more money you can use for products in the new annual catalog.

Faux Fold Video

Hi there stampers!! Welcome to Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin'.

Today's video is of what I call the Faux Fold Card.  It looks like it may be a complicated fold but to be honest it is super duper simple:)

It is a great card that isn't your average everyday A2 size card but a nice change to make and to give to your recipient.  Today I am using the new Affectionately Yours DSP along with the Pool Party card stock for my base piece.  I love that with this card you can see both sides of SU!'s double sided DSP design.  It's too often that you get that without have to cut and piece together;)

Here is a look at the other card that I showed in the video:

The Pop Of Pink is one of my favs out of the new DSP packs!! I love the black and pink together!!!

So let's take a look at the measurements:
Base - 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
DSP - 4" x 12" scored at 2" and 4" on each side
Inside Piece 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"

Amazing Jar

Hi friends! Welcome to Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin' and today's card share!

Today's share is a card that I made using the new Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating framelits, Everyday Jars.  As soon as I saw this bundle I knew it had to become part of my collection:)

The card measures average size of 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2" and is in the So Saffron.  I then topped that with a piece of Whisper White measuring 4" x 5 1/4".

I kept the card simple just having the jar and the flowers as the vocal with the background plain. To add just a tiny bit of bling I added some Jewels to each of the corners.

Star Shaker Card

Hi stampin' friends!  Welcome to Mrs. Lincoln's Inkin' and today's card share.

Today I am sharing a shaker card with you that uses Daffodil Delight card stock with the Star Framelits.  Shaker cards are always sooo much fun to make for any sort of occasion:)  This one happens to be a "Congrats" card.  This time of year you can never have too many of these cards laying around.

Now this card would normally (for me) be a little bit of a pain to make being that you would need to fit dimensionals around all of the openings of the stars, but.... with SU!'s new Foam Strips it was a breeze.  Those things are amazing!!!

To fill my shaker's I used the new Sprinkles punch and punched out the star that is in the assortment of punches.  Of course I used the Silver Glimmer paper to add some bling to my card and I used this also to fill in my little stars!!

Now don't forget that now until June 30th you can receive an extra $35 in stampin' rewards when your party reaches $350 or more, prior to s/h and tax.  This can be used for more goodies from the catalog or can also be used towards a starter kit!!
